As the most used CMS worldwide, WordPess itself is always safe since if you keep the core application update to date. For the most part, vulnerabilities are found in themes, plugin that you use.

Actually they sis statistic on the main ways WordPress websites get hacked, Ofccourrse plugins acount for the biggest share of security breached on websites. The WordPress core was the second biggest reason. I used to think that it was just outdated sites that were a issue but almost bi monthly exploits are discovered on WordPress core. There are many sites online dedicated to showing past version vulnerabilities and you would be very surprised as a webmaster how many there actually are

Everyone knows the standard WordPress login page URL. The backend of the website is accessed from there, and that is the reason why people try to brute force their way in. Just add /wp-login.php or /wp-admin/ at the end of your domain name and there you go.

What I recommend is to customize the login page URL and even the page’s interaction.

Another thing is that a good webhost should also be proactively scanning and optimizing the servers on the daily bases for extra security.

Wordpress is the most popular CMS.
Make sure that you regularly backup your website in offsite location.

Like Windows is the most popular desktop OS, but there are several vulnerabilities and security releases every week. You then don't stop using Windows, but you keep your OS updated. Now, is Windows OS safe?

WordPress is safe enough itself. However, anyone can't make sure that the plugins and themes on the market are as secure as WordPress. So all we can do is to update WordPress in time and stay away from the unsecure plugins and themes. In addition to that, website owners need to implement some security measures to secure website against hackers for protecting website.
