    Your two biggest threats to php as a programming language would come from Javascript particularly node.js and python with django. However most current php users would find these languages too complex i believe so in truth the answer is none, sure there are languages that can do what php does better but the learning curve of a new language and change would not be liked by php users as most php users are dabblers.
