i think hotmail is safer than gmail. For not hacking your account you can use hard passwords

The first tip is one of the most important: make sure your account password is strong. Using a weak password, such as one thatís short, obvious, or something you use on other sites, wonít cut it. A good password, should contain at least 10 characters with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.

I have a hotmail and I think that it is quite safe, because it remains confidential and in general itís hard to cheat it, according to my observations

I'm not a big fan of Hotmail. Not because it is unsafe, but because I find Gmail to be more convenient. I moved all my data from one mailbox to another. Also, I backup all necessary letters as PDF files on my hard drive (I use Email Detail Archive https://emailindetail.com/archive-emails). So, no matter what email client I choose, I will always have copies on my PC. In my opinion, it is convenient.
