hmm i sorta talking about like r we allowed to put mp3 files and what the file size limit is....

it's almost a certainty that they'll allow mp3s and video files but the real catch I guess is in NOT sharing copyrighted music, movies, series, and software. unless you're hosting uncut footages of your little minnie's wedding, a lot of space is not really needed. :)

JhK
08-31-2005, 04:54 PM
are u sure about that..? i would likeit if a mod or an admin replied to b more sure.

wacky_lokpo

it's almost a certainty but I guess it'd help if someone from the team confirms it. :)

The posts posted in the "Hot Web Hosting Talk Lounge" will not be considered as posts while considering the reseller account/domain etc. requests, so how can we know how many posts so far have we posted in the "Hot Web Hosting Talk Lounge".

RustyNut
09-01-2005, 10:40 AM
you deduct the posts in the lounge from your overall number ;)

and about the mp3 files etc, as far as i know as long as you arent distributing copyrighted files, then there shouldnt be a problem, you are correct. you might want to double check this with admin though...

Anything illegal including, but not limited to, illegal software, warez or hacked software, serial numbers, mail fraud. spam, Illegal or copyrighted multimedia contents Not allowed.

its the same rules as you would expect on most servers

wacky_lokpo
09-02-2005, 01:33 AM
but i think you can upload music that you made. your rapping i guess and maybe home videos of you dancing the macarena. that'd not be breaking copyright rules! :)

RustyNut

wacky_lokpo
09-02-2005, 11:34 PM
and even without the admin posting, you shouldn't really be posting anything illegal :) that'll be asking for trouble! :(

i dont really see the big fuss about mp3's tbh, look at all the sharing programmes, i dont see why they dont just give up, i would -rolls eyes-

lol yeh there is so much illegal stuff going around everywhere itd b hard to stop.... i dont think its ever going to stop... but wat about movies files are they ok..? ie ... avi.

RustyNut
09-05-2005, 04:02 PM
i think if you make it so they are un-downloadable (its easily done) then that should be ok

If you want your users to download "copyright" materials I have a great idea for you which is by no means illegal. Register yourself at www.mofile.com (it provides free 1GB file storage), upload your files on it. They will provide you a URL key like http://mofile.somethingsomething/. Make links with that on your website. THIS IS 120% LEGAL.

RustyNut
09-05-2005, 08:32 PM
how is that legal compared to anything else?

it is. i'm sure it's illegal in your country too.

streaming media will tax the servers.

How can it be illegal? because uploading is legal, and downloading is legal. Had downloading not legal, why would a single person have created his/her account on any of such websites.

wacky_lokpo
09-06-2005, 03:42 PM
because you are breaking copyright laws. every time you share copyrighted files and anything that is not yours by right, you are depriving the owner of royalties. imagine that. just because you can upload and download the files or have bought the CD or DVD it is on don't mean that you have the legal right to distribute it. even torrents can be illegal, did you know that? why do you think btefnet closed?

kedar00
09-06-2005, 05:06 PM
It should be illegal in my country, but the matter of fact is "There is NO law in my country"
:)

You are from India, I am from PAKISTAN. "NO LAWS HERE AS WELL" ;)

RustyNut
09-06-2005, 05:30 PM
lol, hmmm, well it breaks uk, and usa copyright laws, so i think it will affect you still if the file is from those countries and countries with similare laws

kedar00
09-07-2005, 08:17 PM
if a person from UK or US will try to sue an Indian company then he will repent his entire life, because the case will last for minimum 15 -20 years, and there is one more clause that says the if they file a case in thier own country then The case do not hold any worth.

Kedar

wacky_lokpo
09-08-2005, 01:04 AM
That's a bit absurd. So, If I move to India, I can be a music pirate? and get away with it?

RustyNut
09-08-2005, 04:35 PM
i think thats pretty terrible... i think the laws should still apply if the files are from uk or usa

wajahat_mehdi88
09-08-2005, 06:55 PM
No body here has ever bought a licensed Windows Cd and you are talking about ordinary music files? A company like Microsoft has lost hope. Even it couldn't do anything about unlicensed copies of Windows, Office etc. I do know how can you expect any other company to do that.

wacky_lokpo
09-09-2005, 12:40 AM
Because, the existence of the internet notwithstanding, the government has to the protect the intellectual and/or artistics properties of its citizens---could be music, movies, books, software :/ It's too irrational for it not to be in effect!
